Types of Fans
These fans are suitable for indoor as well as outdoor spaces
Pedestal Fans
Pedestal Fans are mounted on an adjustable stand which makes them the most suited option for bigger spaces. Pedestal fans promise to deliver powerful and uniform air delivery across even the biggest of rooms
Since they are taller, pedestal fans can be placed behind the furniture or even in corners without affecting their efficiency
Table Fans
Table fans are shorter in height and can be placed on tables which are directly facing towards a person. Table fans are perfect for smaller spaces, as they can cool only a up to a limited range.
Table fans are heavier and occupy table space, unlike pedestal fans which are kept on floor
Factors to Consider
Blade Size
Size of the fan is an important factor to ensure proper cooling with respect to the space.
Typically, table fans come in 12”, 16” and 10” diameter. Pedestal fans are typically 16” diameter
Blade Sweep
The circular zone covered by the blades as they rotate is called a blade sweep
For indoor use, a blade sweep of 400mm to 450mm is enough
Air Delivery
This refers to the amount of air that is pushed out per minute
The stronger the breeze will be, the more air the fan blows out. CMM is also influenced by the space you choose. If you’re searching for a fan to use indoors, the range is between 60 and 100 CMM
Oscillation
This is a characteristic that you should never overlook while looking for the best pedestal or table fan.
The ideal aspect for making the fan work well is a minimum oscillation of 60 degrees. This oscillation guarantees that the fan blows a forceful blast of cool air while also evenly distributes it throughout the area
Motor
Motors are the heart and soul of a fan. Copper-wound motors should always be used because copper protects them from corrosion
Cleaning Ease
The fan blades will accumulate a lot of dust, thus it’s critical to clean them regularly.
If you want to make it easier for yourself to clean the fan, go for one with removable grills. This allows you to easily clean the blades
Ceiling Fans
Size
Depending on the size of the room, an appropriate fan diameter can be chosen.
Standard ceiling fan diameters are 24”, 36’ and 48’. Typically, a room of size 100 sq. ft can be cooled effectively with a 24” diameter ceiling fan
Large ceiling fans in diameters of 55” and 63” are also available, but they are less effective, since the large size of blades restrict their speed

Number of Blades
The number of blades on a ceiling fan will have an impact on aesthetics, acoustics, and performance. Fans with lesser number of blades will rotate faster as they create lesser drag, hence are better at cooling.
Fans with a greater number of blades consume more energy but are quieter.
Most standard fans have 3 blades
Installation Height
As a rule of thumb, all ceiling fans should be installed at min 7’ height from the floor safety. Fan blades should be at least 12” lower than the ceiling for effective cooling. A down rod of accurate length results in optimal
