Factors to Consider
Kitchen Layout
Standard cooktop width ranges from 15” to 36”, but the size you choose may depend upon the dimension of the kitchen platform and kitchen layout
Existing gas or electrical connection will also play a role in determining the position and size of the cooktop
Cooktop Size
Depending on the extent of cooking and your family size, you can choose a cooktop with 2,3 or 4 burners
There are different configurations of burners available – which will enable you to use all the burners at the same time
Typically, cooktops come in the below widths
12” to 15”: Single burner

Hobs

Better temperature control
Induction Cooktops
There is no open flame in induction cooktops. It not only keeps your kitchen cooler but also reduces the risk of burns and fire. Moreover, induction is more efficient than gas and allows better temperature control as it uses 80% to 90% of its electromagnetic energy to heat the utensil, whereas a gas stove uses only about 40% of heat.
While an induction cooktop does have many advantages, it runs on power, and you might not be able to use it in case of a power outage.
Please note that Induction cooktops usually require special cookware. Although readily available, it is slightly expensive than traditional cookware.
